Cyril Cordoba is an historian (PD Dr) working on cultural and political history, with a focus on transnational exchanges and radical lefts. His special interests include pop/mass culture (especially cinema).

He is the author of the book Au-delà du rideau de bambou (2020), which analyses Sino-Swiss relationships during the Cold War, China’s soft power, Swiss anticommunism, propaganda networks, state surveillance, cultural diplomacy, and transnational solidarity. The English translation was published in Routledge’s collection ‘Asia, Europe, and Global Connections: Culture, History, and Trans-Area Studies‘ under the title ‘China-Swiss Relations during the Cold War‘.

This project is based on his second forthcoming book about the political history of the Locarno Film Festival (1946-1981)
